The Three Husbands of Annabelle: By Land, By Sea, By Airby Joseph Woodward is a beautiful story. It showcases the journey of Annabelle Anderson over 95 years, including three husbands. She was a beautiful young girl from Iowa who grew up with hard-working parents who taught her how to navigate through most of her life following morals, core values, and work ethics. Unfortunately, Annabelle's life after her parents didn't feel as organized; in fact, it's heart-wrenching to read how each of her husbands prepared her for a successor. She went from marrying a man whose attitude and health deteriorated despite her numerous efforts of child-rearing to marrying a renowned artist who was also a commanding officer in the navy. Last of the lot was marrying into a connected family with an eastern social lifestyle, which she felt wonderfully protected in. When you undergo a trauma, art often becomes your only escape — so it did for Annabelle, as her art renderings were portraits of animals and people. You can only imagine the trauma life has brought forth on a woman who has had to marry and remarry to survive in a world like Annabelle's. Despite this, she rose above being caught in the moment to never lose her balance.
