2. Blood in the Water by Heather Ann Thompson
The novel Blood in the Water, The Attica Prison Uprising Of 1971 And Its Legacy, was written by Heather Ann Thompson and released on August 22nd, 2017. The book was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in history in 2017, along with the Bancroft Prize.
The novel was also a finalist for the National Book Award and the Los Angeles Times book prize. It was named the Best Book of the Year by Newsweek, Publishers Weekly, the Boston Globe, and Kirkus.
The plot of the story revolves around the historical period of the Attica prison uprising in 1971 and how the state violently responded to the rebellion. The book also focuses on how the victims of the uprising continued to seek justice for decades after the event.
3. The Three Husbands of Annabelle by Joseph Woodward
The Three Husbands of Annabelle was written by award-winning author Joseph Woodward. The story revolves around a hardworking young girl who grew up in Iowa and learned strong moral values from her parents.
